"Liberty requires an opportunity to make a living-a living decent according to take the standard of time, a living which gives man not only enough to live by, but something to live for"
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Our world is one of fast paced changes and a drive to be the best. With the need of the youth to acquire and master certain skills in order for our nation to compete with others, who should be held responsible for the education of children? Some say it is up to private groups or the family itself, as it was so long ago. But with many parents lacking skills their children need to move up in the world, the eyes turn to public schools, funded and regulated by the government. These schools do what they can to get minds ready for an uncertain job market. But who is to provide the jobs? Should our youth lay in wait for our government to hand them the final key to their future? That is what some young people seem to expect. And while many turn to the restaurant industry for their first jobs, some get stuck in there. State government are now handing the deals that bring big businesses and jobs to areas that need them. This is were some Americans believe that government aid should stop. According to President Franklin D Roosevelt, the very at of having liberty requires have opportunity. There must be ways for the individual to meet his needs and have the same standard f living as his fellow men. This means a food over his head, food in his stomach, and the bit of extra to pay bills and have the joy of spending and stimulating the economy. And if a government provides us with liberty, why should it not provide the very basics of opportunity? Schools and jobs will give you the means for living a life equal to that of your fellow man. It may not leave room for extravagance or frequent splurge-spending, but as long as your needs are met with comfort, do you really need the extra?
